So I've officially become a blogger. I just set up my account and will probably spend the next hour or so experimenting with font, colors, lay-out, design-- oh what a blogger I'll be!
In 6 days I'll be leaving for New York-- crazy, fast-paced, beautiful New York. We'll be staying in a guest house of the United Methodist Women (Alma Mathews House). I'll try to put up some pictures that I found on the place's website, but I'm still new at this blog thing, so the pictures may come after I've taken a few blog tutorials or something.. I hope there's a such thing as a blog tutorial?
Anyways, this is what is going on with me for the moment-- excitement, anticipation, thankfulness, and packing!
Our training director, Kim, recently sent an email to our intern class. After covering all the travel details, the packing specifics, our questions about agendas/schedules/etc., she left us with some nice words of wisdom that I'll try to keep in focus this week as I pack my bags, as I practice Spanish, as I spend time with frieds and family, and get ready for mi verano de paz y amor. I'll leave you with her words, as I hope they will shape and form and focus this coming week for me:
I know that the process of preparing our suitcases can be the focus of our preparations for mission. But we must also remember to prepare our hearts and minds for the experiences ahead.
Alma Mathews House (which I have now learned was built and began in 1888 by a woman named Alma Mathews-- it was originally used as a ministry of service and hospitality to immigrant women in the city.)
